Join Winter Reading

Pre-registration for Winter Reading has begun! Boost your reading and earn a chance at cool prizes this winter with this fun program. Not sure where to start? Read our latest blog, sign up via Beanstack, and make sure you’ve taken care of the library essentials:

Library Essentials

#1 - Get a Library Card!

Have you lost your library card? Maybe your card is expired? Did you forget your PIN number? Maybe you haven't gotten around to signing up for one? We can help! You can apply for a new card and visit your closest library branch to pick up your new and shiny card. You can have your PIN reset, too, or reset your PIN yourself online. We currently offer several card designs including recent limited editions, Layla, the Last Black Unicorn and Siempre East Side, plus King Library 20th Anniversary designs exclusively for visitors to the King Library.

#2 - Visit a Branch!

Have you recently visited one of our branch libraries (or the magnificent King Library)? Each of them is unique and beautiful with original artworks to discover and cozy spaces to read in - some with fireplaces! Check which location is in your area and stop by during our open hours. From December 7 - January 7, 2024 adults registered for Winter Reading can select a tote bag (limit one per person, while supplies last) from any location. Registered youth (ages 0–18) can select a free prize book!

#3 - Attend a Winter Program/Event!

Be sure to register and attend one of our SJPL winter programs! You can find something that will captivate your interests regardless of age! SJPL offers hundreds of programs and events each week in both online and in-person formats. We host storytimes, gardening workshops, computer help, homework and book clubs, career workshops, and many more!

#4 - Read, Read, Read!

Need to keep up your reading for school? Are you ready for your winter vacation? We offer a unique service called 5forU: Personal Reading Recommendations! Fill out a short form and have 5 suggested titles sent to your inbox in just a few days. It is time to catch that reading bug again! Plus, while you wait for your recommendations, you can always browse our curated booklists. SJPL offers books in many formats: print, eBooks, audiobooks, eAudiobooks, magazines and newspapers like the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and more are all free and at your fingertips.
