The Early Education Mission

To provide children and caregivers of all backgrounds with access to high quality Early Education programs and resources so that they have the opportunity to learn about new ideas, skills, and possibilities, as well as a safe space to explore, play, connect, and grow.

Storytimes

Storytimes are available in-person and online. Storytimes provide a fun and interactive learning environment for children of all ages and abilities.

Getting Ready for Kindergarten with Ready4K

Weekly text messages with fun facts and tips on promoting child's development and learning at home.

Recorded Storytimes

Library staff read their favorite children's books out loud. Children and caregivers can listen and watch anytime online. Discover new stories - a great springboard into your home storytime!

Wee Play Dates

The San José Public Library is hosting a year-long series of community play dates for children ages 0-5.

Join us for artsy fun as we learn about different artists and art styles that have made a major impact on creative thinking in our world.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Join the challenge to read 1,000 books with your child before they enter Kindergarten.

Books and More Bilingual Backpacks

Each bag includes books, toys and a music CD so that you can read, talk and sing with your child.

Wee Play & Learn Activity Boxes

Nine different activity boxes include books and educational toys to take home and learn about concepts such as science, shapes, dinosaurs and more.

Wee Read! Books to Go and Grow

Each themed bag contains picture books widely reflecting culture, race, gender, family makeup, or ability.

The Wee Explore PlaySpace in the King Library Children’s Room is a destination for children (ages 0-5) to ignite their imagination and learn through open-ended play and exploration.

San José Bridge Libraries

The Bridge Collection is currently located in multiple Family Resource Center locations, offering books in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese for families with young children.

Wee Play

Wee Play San José Stations provide access to learning-based toys and comfortable environments for children and caregivers to interact while developing physical, cognitive, and social-emotional skills.
