STEAM Learning Labs

The San José Public Library is proud to provide FREE, quality STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) learning programs for students in grades, K-12. These programs expand access to coding, digital design, and related topics to all youth.

Summer Programs

Prepare Your Student for the Future

This summer children aged 7-13 can participate in one of the San José Public Library’s coding and STEAM learning labs! Choose between shorter STEAM Learning Labs that run 1-2 hours or longer one-day, 8-hour, Coding Learning Labs for an expanded experience.  

Coding, computer science, and digital art all help children develop a wide range of skills including:  pattern recognition, problem solving, troubleshooting, creativity, collaboration and more! 

Steam Learning Labs

These 1–2-hour programs are offered at a variety of times and library branches between Saturday, June 15th and Friday, August 2nd. Programs are on a range of STEAM topics from AR to greenscreen to coding. Participants will get hands-on experience in creating with computers, iPads, robots, or other devices as they complete a project.

Coding Learning Labs

Enjoy a whole day of coding and computer science activities! The Coding Learning Labs will be held at four library branches on select weekdays starting Monday, June 24th and running until Friday, August 2nd. Each one-day session has a mix of activities using computers, iPads, or other devices to gain hands-on experience. Participating branches are Educational Park, Hillview, Joyce Ellington, and Tully. 

Children will learn about the basics of coding, digital art, and design by working on multiple projects in the day. See individual event listings for more details. Registration is required.
