Every September, the American Library Association and libraries across the United States celebrate National Library Card Sign-up Month.
Here at San Jose Public Library, we'll be giving out free mini-tote bags to everyone who signs up for a library card, while supplies last. If you've already got a library card, you are welcome to ask for a mini-tote bag to show your library love!
While checking out books that you can carry in your new mini-tote bag is a fantastic use of your library card, here are some other ways to use your library card at SJPL, and they're all free!:
eResources | San Jose Public Library
You can use your library card to access e-books, read newspapers and magazines in digital format, stream movies and TV shows, access online learning tools and databases, and much more.
Discover and Go
If you're a San Jose resident, you can use your SJPL library card to access Discover and Go's database of free and reduced priced tickets to local museums and other attractions.
Park Passes
Your library card allows you to borrow both California State Park and Santa Clara County Park passes.
In-Library Resources
You can use an onsite computer or reserve a study room with your library card.
Library of Things
Besides books, other physical items you can borrow with your library card include tech devices, DVDs, music CDs, audiobooks, Wee Play and Learn activity boxes, Home Energy Saving Toolkits, and more.
This is not an exhaustive list of everything you can do with your library card, so pick one up today and start exploring all the worlds it will open up to you! You can choose from a variety of designs for your San Jose Library card, including designs featuring local sports teams and cards designed by contest winners.
