Fangirls Unleashed: Director’s Cut with SJPL’s Director Jill Bourne

Hello bookworms, fangirls, and bibliophiles! Welcome to a very special edition of Fangirls Unleashed: Director's Cut. Literally.

We had the amazing opportunity to interview the Director of San José Public Library, Jill Bourne. To the public, she's the Director of one of the largest library systems in Northern California. Outside of the public eye, Jill is a fellow fangirl who loves anything in the YA genre as much as we do, and we bonded over Cassandra Clare and Snapchat.

In this video, we talk about everything from one of her favorite series to a fun little speed round to get to know her better. Books that we talked about in the interview are mentioned below. Want more? Then sit back and watch this fun video of the most powerful person in the San José Public Library system. Eating Huevos Rancheros while watching the video scores you extra brownie points.

Books mentioned in the video:

  1. Weetzie Bat by Francesca Lia Block
  2. Cinder by Marissa Meyer
  3. Four by Veronica Roth
  4. In the Forest of the Night by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes

Fun Fact

It's tax season, and did you know that if you make less than $54,000 a year your local branch can help you out with your taxes? See which branch nearest to you offers tax preparation help. Our branches have either a drop-off only policy or one-on-one help, so double check the location that you are going to beforehand.

Excited for San Jose's biggest event of the year, Silicon Valley Comic Con on March 18-20? We are too! Us Fangirls will be there, so be sure to follow us on our social media accounts below for a behind the scenes look of SVCC before our next blog gets posted. If you see us, stop by and say hello! You might be channeling your inner Stan Lee and may have a small cameo in our next vlog.

Addie and Alyssa would also want to say a huge THANK YOU to Jill and her team for granting us the fun opportunity to interview her.

This blog has been a collaboration between Adilene Rogers and Alyssa Mendoza.
