eSpotlight – ProCitizen

Studying for the American citizenship test is easy with ProCitizen!

Watch short videos and take quizzes to learn what you need to know for the American citizenship test. ProCitizen is a feature of Pronunciator, one of the library's online language learning eResources. Getting to ProCitizen can be a bit tricky the first time; but if you follow these instructions, you'll be preparing for your citizenship test in no time.

Getting Started

Log in to Pronunciator (free with your library card!). If you have already used Pronunciator, you can log in as you normally would. If this is your first time, enter your library card number and click the "Register" button to create an account:

Choose Your Languages

Once you've logged in, you will be presented with a screen that asks you select what you speak and what you want to learn:

Click the drop-down menu under "I Speak" and choose either English (US) or the language you are most comfortable speaking. Click on the drop-down menu under "I want to learn" and choose "English (American)" from the box that pops up:

American English Course

You will be taken into the American English course. When you are taken to the American English course, you will have several course options. To get to "ProCitizen to choose "ProCitizen" from the menu on the right side of the screen (I've circled it in blue here):

Drills, Quizzes, and Facts

You're ready to go! You can try drills and quizzes, and choose from the drop-down menu across the top to hone your knowledge in specific areas such as American History, geography, holidays, or prepare for your reading and writing tests.

Fun, Easy, and Interactive

ProCitizen is a great way to get ready for your citizenship test or to get a better understanding of basic civics and American History. You can use it at home or in the library and, like all of our services, it's absolutely free!
