Happy National Teacher Appreciation Week!  Every year, the first full week of May is dedicated to educators – recognizing the work they do all year long.  The Tuesday of that week is Teacher Appreciation Day.  This year, it falls on Tuesday, May 2.  To help you celebrate here are a few of our eBooks and digital resources about teachers, as well as some exciting eResources available for educators.

Resources For Teachers

Educators, there’s a library card just for you! The Educator Card is a special library card with extended checkout and renewal periods and no fines on overdue materials. This card is for adults (18+) who work for a preschool or K-12 school (public, charter, private) in the city of San José.


In-Person and Online Resources

SJPL offers resources for teachers throughout the year.  Check out our in-person offerings, such as class visits and Maker[Space]Ship visits.  We also offer eResources for educators such as:

  • Novelist K-8 Plus: Find out what books to read next based on your favorite books and topics. NoveList K-8 Plus allows users to filter searches by ages: 0-8, 9-12, and teen.
  • Scholastic Teachables: Easy to print lesson plans, worksheets, and activities on a wide variety of subjects for PreK-8 educators.
  • Original, in-studio movies of authors and illustrators, and resources on K–12 books to support reading and library activities for all grades and content areas.
