Reading to Children Volunteers at Cambrian Library

Cambrian Branch Library is fortunate to have a generous and giving Community!

If you are looking for a reading program for your child outside of school hours or in the afternoon, Cambrian Library has a reader every afternoon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 3:00 - 4:00 PM. Additionally, please scroll to the bottom for our Saturday volunteers!

Remember that you can either have each reader read to you a book that you choose or one that the reader chooses.

Please meet our Reading to Children Volunteers!

Reading to Children Volunteers

Ms. Aysha (Mondays):

If you are in the Library on Mondays, ready to start your homework, you can take a few minutes to relax and listen to Ms. Aysha, who combines reading, audience participation, costumes, and songs into her Monday read-alouds.

She has trained at least a couple of other volunteers, who love her style!

Ms. Aysha not only reads aloud to children, she also helps us as a Library Services Volunteer.

Ms. Lee (Tuesdays):

Cambrian Library is fortunate to have a Pre-Pandemic Reading to Children Volunteer, Ms. Lee!

Ms. Lee was eager to restart her reading, as she had missed the weekly interaction!

A former professor of engineering, Ms. Lee is comfortable speaking in front of people.  Parents have told me that she is "engaging and interacts well with the audience."

Ms. Sarah (Wednesdays and Thursdays):

Ms. Sarah is one of Cambrian Library's two voice-over artists who participate as readers.

If you see fairy lights in the Children's Picture Book Area, you can be sure that the reader is Ms. Sarah!

Using various voices, lively interaction, and patter, Ms. Sarah is truly wonderful to observe whether you are a child or a parent!

When and Where?

  • 2nd Floor Picture Book Area
  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays
  • 3:00 - 4:00 PM

Saturdays, Too!

We are fortunate to have some wonderful Reading to Children readers on Saturdays, too!

Ms. Amanda (Starting February 24, 2024):

Ms. Amanda will be finishing her Tuesdays at 10:30 - 11:30 AM shift on February 13.

If you like Ms. Amanda's gentle readings on Tuesdays, please be sure to rejoin her each Saturday at 10:30-11:30 AM in the Picture Book area, starting on February 24, 2024.  (She will be reading in the Read Away Your Fines Area on March 2 and 9, due to the Primary Election.)

Ms. Amanda participates as a volunteer because she likes giving back to the Community.  She told me that she enjoyed coming to the Library for storytimes, so she wants to return the favor.

Ms. Bria (First Saturday of the Month):

You may have already met Ms. Bria, who is our other professional voice-over artist!

Ms. Bria has done a number of commercial ads, just like Ms. Sarah.

If you would like to hear someone who uses different voices, is great with kids, and who uses a lot of interaction, please join Ms. Bria when she next reads on March 2, 2024 at 1:00 - 2:00 PM.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment!
