Become a PAR Tutor

By becoming a volunteer adult basic literacy tutor or technology coach, you’ll give adults a gift they can take with them forever. Every day, adult learners join Partners in Reading (PAR) to take advantage of this free literacy program to function independently.

Volunteer Requirements and Responsibilities

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Speak, read, and write English well
  • Be comfortable using technology
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Pass fingerprint clearance
  • Attend an orientation
  • Complete online training
  • Attend tutor training meetings
  • Commit to 6 months or more of tutoring
  • Log volunteer hours
  • Meet virtually, in a library (when it reopens), or other public place for tutoring sessions
