Lisa's Story
I grew up in a family of readers. I read to my little ones every day and we went to the library every week. When they got into school, I was a volunteer in the "I love to Read" program. I was a tutor in the adult literacy program at the King Library for some years. The thrill of helping people read has always been a passion for me. A few years ago I returned to school to work towards my masters degree. When I needed help on writing a resume, I went to the volunteers at the Joyce Ellington Library. I have even sought out tax prep advice and gardening advice from the programs at the library. Libraries are a place for community growth and gathering. I am grateful to have so many good libraries here in San Jose.
