Spring Cleaning and Clutter Control

One of the things I try to do before the end of April is to clean and organize our home. We tend to spend most of our "free" time during the Summer and Fall months travelling and vending at various art events throughout California. So, any household projects have to be done between January and April.  Because of my husband's Art business and my costuming/cosplay builds: our home might be described as an experiment in "organized chaos". This year, however, we worked together to make certain that our house is better organized. There's something valuable in having downsized and organized the remaining items in such a way to make an overall improvement in our quality of life. A cleaner, more organized home can be a good foundation for creativity and growth. I find that I am capable of better quality costume builds and writing content once I have my living space and my workspace less cluttered and more organized.

The first book I ever read on the subject of clutter control was Throw Out 50 Things by Gail Blanke back in 2013.  This started me on the effort to downsize and simplify my living space. It was beneficial because I began to really assess what I needed and used on a regular basis. The process of this actually created new opportunities for me and made our home more accessible to our friends for hosting dinners and board game nights.
