Author Visit: David Ellis Talks About The Best Lies

Meet Mystery Author David Ellis!

After a successful author visit in June 2024 with Cara Black and October 2024 with Nina Simon at our Virtual Cambrian and Pearl Mystery Club, Volunteer Leader Pam Crider asked me to inquire if author David Ellis was available.

With the aid of his agent, Eleanor Imbody, I was able to set up an author visit!

From his website:

"David Ellis is a judge and a #1 New York Times bestselling, Edgar Award-winning author of eleven novels of crime fiction, as well as eleven books co-authored with James Patterson. His novels have been translated into more than ten languages worldwide. He has served as a justice of the Illinois Appellate Court since 2014. Ellis lives outside Chicago with his wife and three children.."

The Mystery Book Club's Choice of The Best Lies

The selection of each month's title is done months in advance by Pam and the Club members.  As mentioned in prior blogs, Pam curates titles that she selects and that members suggest.

Members then have a lively discussion about which books to choose for the future months.

A consensus is reached and Pam assigns each book to a different month for a monthly book discussion.

Pam tells of of how author David Ellis' The Best Lies was chosen and how future authors were also considered:

"Thank you to Patty (member) for recommending this author.

We had previously discussed reading Lies He Told Me, which Ellis co authored with James Patterson, but Mr. Ellis' publicist recommended discussing his latest book, The Best Lies.

David Ellis, author of  The Best Lies  has been confirmed to do a virtual author visit on Sept. 24.

His publicist also included other mystery and horror authors who might be available for future virtual visits."

As I mentioned in a previous blog, the Mystery Book Club is just one example of how volunteers enrich our communities everyday by offering diverse programming. Whether you are passionate about dancing, literacy, enjoy working with children, or simply want to make a difference in someone’s life, volunteering at the library is a fulfilling opportunity that can have a lasting impact on both volunteers and patrons alike.
