November is Native American Heritage Month. This is the perfect time to pick up some New Fiction books written by Native American/First Nations authors. In recent years, Native writers have gone beyond fictional stories centered around Native identity alone....branching out into Fantasy, Science Fiction, Mystery, and Horror genres. With over 700 tribal nations in the United States, Native identities and perspectives are vast and varied. There is no "one voice" or "one experience" that determines legitimacy. There are so many stories and so much complexity within Native communities. And the writings of these fiction authors reflect the vast complexity of their experiences. Check out these amazing selections that have been published recently, and feel free to look at my previous year's blogs for more fantastic books written by Native/First Nations authors!
