Make Music Day 2025 in San José!

Make Music Day is June 21st!

Since 2017, San Jose has been one of the over 1000 cities across the globe participating in Make Music Day every June 21, the day of the summer solstice.

The extra special joy of 2025 is that this is the first year that San Jose will be celebrating Make Music Day on a Saturday! So far, we’ve had one Make Music Day in San Jose on a weekend (Sunday, June 21, 2020), but since we were still in a phase of pandemic lockdown at that time, the event had to be held online. Falling on a Saturday hopefully allows many more people to experience the joy of all the completely free in-person music events being held all over our city. These events include concerts, music workshops and more.

Make Music Day was started in Paris as Fête de la Musique in 1982, by the French Ministry of Culture. Today, the San Jose Office of Cultural Affairs partners with artists and organizations across the city to make this spirited, special day happen.

Make Music Day at SJPL!

San Jose Public Library continues its tradition of being an enthusiastic Make Music Day partner in 2025. We’ve got a grand total of 13 Make Music Day events happening at our locations this Saturday, from kids’ music to rock bands to Indian classical fusion to drum making workshops.  Find an event near you, or even better, download the autograph passport and bring it to at least five different Make Music Day events for a chance to win prizes! We wish you a wonderful Make Music Day Saturday!
