eResources Alert! Things to Know Before Replacing Your Library Card

Need a New Library Card?

Whether you lost your library card, need to upgrade an old eCard, or want one of our new designs, it's important to know that getting a new library card number might affect your access to eBooks and other eResources. You may lose access to your current account activity or history. To avoid disruptions, we recommend doing the following before replacing your card:

  • Finish any course work or books in progress
  • If you have holds, take a screenshot showing the title(s) and your place in line
  • Export course certificates or reading history
  • Write down your previous card number

Cloud Library

When you sign in with your new library card number, Cloud Library will replace your previous account and any items currently checked out will be returned.

Hoopla

You will need to update your library card number in Hoopla by following these steps: log in with your e-mail address and password, click on the gear icon at the top right of the page, click on the Library tab, replace the old library card number with the new number, and click Save.

Libby & Overdrive

Your Overdrive account is connected to a user number that is different from your library card number. In most cases, if you upgrade your account, you will not lose access to any books that are currently checked out, current holds, or your reading history.

LinkedIn Learning

When you sign in with your new library card number, you will lose access to your current activity and account history. Accounts cannot be merged and we cannot recover your old account.

Tutor.com

Your Tutor.com username is the card number you had when you created your account. You can continue to log in with this card number or start over with a new account.
