    June is LGBTQ Pride Month! San Francisco Pride is happening this weekend, June 27-28th. San Jose's own Silicon Valley Pride is celebrating it's 40th anniversary and will be on August 30th. San Jose's first lesbian and gay pride parade in 1974. And here are some historical finds, fiction, and comics featuring LGBTQ figures and characters!

  • Girls Who Code and Treehousebinary data

    More than 75% of girls show interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) careers; however, as of today, only about 0.3% of girls are pursuing a career in computer science. Without the necessary opportunities to be educated in such a heavily male-dominated field, girls are less likely to pursue career in STEM fields. However, Girls Who Code is an organization aiming to give these girls the opportunities to part of this amazing field and pursue careers in technology and engineering.

  • The Affordable Care Act and How to Sign Up Covered California logo

    If you bought health insurance last year or early in 2014 through the Affordable Care Act and are thinking about making a change OR if you need to buy health insurance for the first time, you can do that now. The enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act, sometimes called ObamaCare, is open until February 15, 2015. In California, the agency that manages health insurance is called Covered California.
