The TeenHQ Recording Studio is…OPEN!

The number one question asked around TeenHQ for the past year has been "When is the recording studio reopening?" The answer is "Now."

TeenHQ's Recording Studio underwent a technological facelift in 2022 and reopened in August of 2023 with new equipment, a new schedule, a new guide for usage and awesome new programs to announce to all of San Jose that TeenHQ's Recording Studio is open for business.

Take our quick course on how to use the Recording Studio, pass the simple quiz, and gain the ability to reserve 90-minutes of sweet recording time, seven days a week, during TeenHQ's hours of operation. The studio is a fully enclosed sound booth with high quality headphones, a Shure M7B microphone, a Zoom LiveTrak L-12 mixer and more. You can even bring in your own instruments (USB and XLR adapters are available).

Join us for regular and specialized programming in our studio, including our monthly Teen Voice-Over Challenge (every fourth Tuesday of the month from 3:30-5:00 PM) and our three-day music composition class Music with Mayx (registration is still open) offered from October 28 - November 11, 2023 (you must register for all three Saturday courses.) We want to hear your voice and music, and who knows, you might be the next indie sensation to take social media by storm.

Follow the TeenHQ website or join our newsletter for updates on more sound engineering programs to help you become the best podcaster, vlogger, singer, rapper, composer, etc. you can be at no cost. All you need to book our studio is your library card, and all you need to attend a program is yourself.

If you are looking for additional resources to help yourself get started in recording, our Recording Studio usage course has a section for resources and tutorials. A featured podcasting resource for teens comes from KALW, a public radio station that hosts the podcast TBH: By, About and For Teenagers created and produced by teens just like you. Take a listen and get some ideas of what you can do in an afternoon or evening at San Jose Public Library's TeenHQ, located inside the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch Library in downtown San Jose.
