We're happy to introduce District 7 Councilmember Bien Doan. Elected in 2022, Councilmember Doan represents District 7 neighborhoods which include Tully community, Seven Trees, and Little Saigon in East San José.

We're excited to have him participate in our Leaders x Libraries blog series to share what he loves most about libraries and how libraries have shaped his life while growing up.

A. Audiobooks/eAudiobooks

Q. What is your favorite book and why?
A. Awaken the Giant Within. A fantastic book that can help one to understand oneself and to take action that would enhance one life.

Q. What are you currently reading or learning?
A. City of San José policies.

Q. What does the library mean to you, and why do you think libraries are essential to society?
A. Libraries are a place of community gatherings, knowledge, a sense of belonging, a laboratory for the imagination, and a lifeline to the world of information.

Q. How did the library shape your life while growing up?
A. Libraries are the center of our community.

Q. Why is it important for everyone to exercise their right to library?
A. We live in a modern world and everyone has the right to exercise their rights.
