Back on August 25th, we lost the one and only Dolly Parton. She was truly a bright shining light in this world....but that light has not dimmed or been snuffed out because her legacy will continue on in her music and her philanthropy.
Dolly Parton was born in a cabin in the mountains of Tennessee and grew up in a large family. Her parents worked hard and raised their children with old fashioned values. Because of this Dolly had a sense of grit and determination alongside her sweetness and bright shining personality. She was a kind and gracious woman, patient and extremely talented. She began singing in her grandpa's church at the age of six and began to play guitar at the age of eight. She began recording music at the age of 13 and continued to record and perform up until June of 2026. Her songs are known all over the world.
She was also known for her philanthropy, creating charities and providing opportunities to people in her home state of Tennessee. And creating the Imagination Library, a program that sends one book per month to every child enrolled from birth until they enter kindergarten. This is a truly wonderful program, and it will continue as a part of her legacy.

In recent news California State lawmakers have reserved Sept 25th as "Dolly Parton Day" (as in "9 to 5" one of her breakout acting roles)

Dolly was definitely an icon and worthy of admiration. She had a good heart and was very loving towards everyone. She embodied the values of Love, Faith, and Tolerance. I sincerely hope that we can do the same in our lives.
