September 19th is International Talk Like A Pirate Day! What are the roots of this particular holiday? Well, according to its' founders, it all began with a game of racquetball gone awry. One of them was injured during the game and let out a stereotypically pirate sound of "ARRRRR". It quickly became an ongoing joke between these two friends and their families. Eventually the tale spread far and wide, taken up by many as a holiday to celebrate all things pirate. It definitely gained in even more popularity in the early 2000s with the release of The Pirates of The Caribbean movies.
Here at San Jose Public Library, we have a vast collection of books and movies to help you celebrate International Talk Like A Pirate Day! So....get yeself to the nearest port of books and be ready to plunder the shelves for buried treasure!
