2 Free Books: October 25 – 30

From Monday, October 25 to Saturday, October 30, kids and teens stop by any library location and pick out 2 free books! Youth (0–18) are eligible while supplies last. Costume not required but encouraged.

 

FAQs

How do you pick up a free book for Halloween?

Any youth ages birth to 18 can visit any library location. No program signup is required.

Do patrons have to signup for a library card or any other program?

A library card is always encouraged but not required for this promotion.

Does my child need to be present to pick up a free book for Halloween?

No, your child does not need to be present—two books per child, a limit of 5 books per unaccompanied adult.

Do youth need to wear a costume to get a free book?

No, it is not required. But always welcome and encouraged.

Are there only Halloween books available?

Nope! Giveaway reads are from a wide variety of genres.

Can a patron pick up an item after the October 30 date?

The program runs until Saturday, October 30.

From now until Saturday, October 31, you can visit any SJPL Express Pickup location Monday – Saturday 1-6 PM to pick up your child's free book.

Actually this giveaway starts next Monday 10/26 - Saturday 10/31. No registration is required.

There is no enrolling, just go to your nearest SJPL branch from Oct 25-30 and ask them about this event and pick up the books. Hope this helps.

Yes, staff will provide patrons the ability to pick 1 book from a selection of 3 books. For health and safety reasons, browsing of book giveaways is not possible.

Yes! The Rose Garden Branch is one of pickup locations. Drop by anytime from 1-6PM until Saturday, October, 31.

I'm so glad you're doing this since we decided not to have Books for Treats this year because we thought it unsafe for the kids. We've been providing books for trick-or-treaters in San Jose since 2001 and it has now spread to all over No. America. We love that kids get books -- we say we give brain candy!
