capt.america and iron facing off with the caption "divided we fall"
The highly anticipated Captain America: Civil War movie was recently released and has been met with excellent reviews ! While the movie is different from the comics, there are a lot of similarities and tie-in's from the source material. Marvel's Civil War was a comic event that spanned across over a dozen series, and totaled in at nearly a hundred issues. This a a daunting feat to go through all of them, so I've narrowed it down to the basics and some additional reading. This overview will include some light spoilers of both the movie and comics. cover of the dark knight returns
The new Batman Vs. Superman movie hit theaters a couple weeks ago. It's release has brought in mixed reviews , as well as the birth of the "Sad Affleck" meme . Some of the top criticisms of the movie, (aside from it's disoriented editing, grim and convoluted storyline, and bad supportive acting choices) was it's departure and unimprovement from the classic comics the movie pulled from. Additionally, fans were disappointed in the departure of core values of their beloved characters. Superman is an appealing character because he is absolute power that is not corrupted, and is a symbol and ray...Read more...

Secret of the Kells jacket cover
Thursday, March 17, 2016 St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner, Thursday March 17, 2016, and it will be here faster than you can say "Conan O'Brien." What turkey and cranberry sauce is to Thanksgiving, is corned beef and cabbage to St. Patrick's Day in America, with the addition of potatoes and choice beverages. Corned Beef & Cabbage Alternative Instead of the typical meal, step-up your St. Patty's...Read more...

cover of nimona
As 2015 draws to a close, we look back and review the best graphic novels of the year! Those that were up for review had to be standalone graphic novels that were released in 2015, or are new comic series with their first trade collection published in 2015. Nimona One of my absolute favorite graphic novels from the last few years, Nimona is a super fun yet touching story about friendship and self discovery. Nimona is a shape shifting girl who enlists herself as the supervillain Lord Ballister Blackheart's trusty sidekick. What starts out as small acts of mischief escalates...Read more...
