San José Mercury News Clippings File Index

What is the Clipping File?

The Clipping File Index is a subject/topic list of thousands of article clippings from the San José Mercury News, spanning 1920 - 1979.

These clippings can be viewed on Microfiche on the lower level of King Library or in the California Room on the 5th Floor. The microfiche is filed alphabetically.  The number following the subject is the number of microfiche covering that topic (each may contain one or more articles). For call number and additional information about the Clippings File, see its catalog record.

For articles after 1985, see the database San José Mercury News, 1985-Current (Library Card required for access)

The University would like to thank all of the generous donors who made this project possible: Bay Networks, the Mildred Gentry Winters Endowment, and the Sourisseau Academy.
