Em destaque: A magia de Alice Hoffman

The theatrical trailer for the movie "Practical Magic 2" was released last week, and I am getting ready to reunite with the Owens Sisters (and the Aunts) for magical shenanigans and midnight margaritas! The first movie was released back in 1998 and had an impact on women of all ages. The story of the sisters, the clothing, the soundtrack, and the beautiful house made for a magical film....all with a sparkle in the eyes. I still dance around my house and sing some of the songs from the film. The long overdue sequel will be released in September 2026 and is based upon Alice Hoffman's "The Book of Magic"

Alice Hoffman is a very prolific fiction writer whose works can be defined within the genre of Magical Realism. Magical Realism centers itself in ordinary places and everyday life, but there are elements of magic and fantasy interwoven within the story and the characters. Small elements like a purse that has a never-ending supply of coins, a woman who always seems to know the future, a librarian who always has just the right answer no matter what the question....these are the types of things that can lend a little bit of magic in the most ordinary of circumstances.

Aqui na San Jose Public Library, we have a wonderful selection of novels written by Alice Hoffman. Check them out and uncover the magic for yourself!
