YA Friday: Six Years Later…

It's been SIX years since the first YA Friday post. Since then, there have been over 300 uninterrupted weeks of YA recommendations, 70 monthly wrap-ups, over 3,750 recommended books, and over 30,000 page views!

In honor of YA Friday's sixth birthday, I highlighted some of my favorite blog posts from this past year.

YA Friday: Taylor Swift Eras as YA Books

2023 was undoubtedly Taylor Swift's year, and we are Swifties here at YA Friday, so in celebration of her Eras Tour visiting the San José area, we matched books to all of her music Eras, as well as books to songs in all of her rerecorded Taylor's Version albums released.

YA Friday: GUTS

Of course, since matching music with books is one of our favorite things to do, we matched YA books with each track off of Oliva Rodrigo's newest album.

YA Friday: For Fans of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes

If you enjoyed the adaptation of the Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, or books based on other popular TV and movie adaptations, then you will love these posts!

YA Friday: The Mock Printz "Prince" Awards 2024

Discussing YA books with others is one of my favorite things to do as a librarian. In this mock committee, we get to learn awesome skills while having fun with our coworkers and vote on some of our favorite YA books published over the past year.

YA Friday: National Blood Donor Month

While YA vampire fiction immerses us in worlds of immortal beings that thirst for blood, there's a real-world need that aligns surprisingly well—blood donation. Highlighting captivating YA vampire fiction was a perfect chance to also recognize the significance of blood transfusions in saving lives in celebration of National Blood Donor Month.

YA Friday: The Library Is Open!

From the glitz and glamour of RuPaul's Drag Race to the pivotal history of icons like Marsha P. Johnson, drag is a realm where self-expression, activism, and creativity collide. These fabulous novels celebrate the colorful tapestry of queerness, inviting readers to be enchanted by the spectrum of voices and stories within their pages and the transformative power of drag in YA literature!
