Celebrate Month of the Young Child with SJPL!

April is the Month of the Young Child at the San José Public Library!

Every April, the NAEYC Celebrates the Week of the Young Child through guided programs and events aimed at children 0-5 and their caregivers. This is a time to celebrate early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities. At SJPL, we're expanding it beyond one week to an entire month of free, family-friendly activities, music, and storytimes aimed at young children and supporting their caregivers!

Events for the Month of the Young Child

This month, you'll find not only our regularly scheduled programs:

bird riding bicycle

We’ll also welcome special performers, Happy Birds, for children and their families at several branch libraries throughout the month. The show will feature parrots performing a variety of incredible stunts.  You will have a chance to see singing Amazon parrots, colorful macaws, and clever cockatoos perform many tricks, including riding a bike, playing basketball, skateboarding, and talking!

It will be a month full of celebrations for the youngest members of our families and communities!

You can celebrate at home too!
