Are you interested in taking a free and open online course, but don’t want to study alone? Why not start the new year right, join our Learning Circle and study face-to-face with your peers?
From 01/08/19 through 02/05/19 we’ll be meeting at Bascom Branch Library to work together through a course on American Sign Language in a supportive, peer-oriented group. We won’t have a teacher - we’ll be teaching each other! In this course we will learn basic signs and hand parameters in ASL. We will also practice visual comprehension, signing and basic expressive and receptive skills!
There are no prerequisites for the course, but access to a laptop or tablet and headphones plus some experience of using the Web would be helpful.
Learning Circles are for ages 18+ and space is limited. Participants are expected to attend all sessions, and if possible should plan to bring their own laptop and headphones.
To register, please visit Bascom Branch Library or call (408)808-3077 during library operating hours.
Learning Circles are adult study groups (18+) and a concept developed by Peer 2 Peer University (P2PU). There are now active Learning Circles across the United States and abroad, and San Jose Public Library has partnered with P2PU to bring Learning Circles to our local libraries.
