    Remember the movie released back in 2006 called Snakes on a Plane starring Samuel L. Jackson? No? Then let me proceed to tell you how traumatic, yet brilliant, that movie was and how horrifying a situation like that might be if it was true. Imagine yourself sitting on a flight and counting down the number hours until you land. Now imagine the same flight planted with hundreds of venomous snakes slithering their way through pipes, your luggage, and ready to attack if provoked even by the smallest sound or movement.

    Eudora Welty, who died on this day in 2001, was born in Jackson, Mississippi in 1909.  She is best known as a writer of novels and short stories, but she was also an accomplished photographer, essayist, and book reviewer.  Here's a little taste of her work...
