New Learning for the New Year

The new year has arrived! With it, you may have some goals for ways you would like to learn and grow in 2021. San José Public Library has a wide variety of eLearning tools and online databases available to help you achieve your goals.

Improve Your Computer/Tech Skills

For some, 2021 might be the year to learn or expand your computer and technology skills. 

O'Reilly for Public Libraries is a new resource we have available. You will have access to eBook versions of O'Reilly technical publications. You can also use online learning content and tools to learn new technologies and research business trends. O'Reilly provides access to eBooks, videos, learning paths and case studies.

Safari Books Online is an online eBook and video collection with a focus on technology, programming, development, network administration and digital media.

Learn a Language

For those wanting to learn a new language or improve proficiency in a language, we offer two different language learning platforms.

Mango Languages provides opportunities to practice conversational language skills in 70 different languages and a variety of language learning tools including videos.

Pronunciator can help you learn conversational skills and grammar for over 80 languages. Some languages include special modules for children, feature-length films, music, and poetry.

Learn a New Hobby, Craft or Skill

A new year can be the perfect time to learn a new hobby or craft. San José Public Library has learning platforms to help you learn everything from Acoustic Guitar Playing to ZBrush and many things in between.

Hobbies & Craft Reference Center helps you learn about crafting, collecting, home decorating, sports, games, gardening, robotics, and other crafts & hobbies.

Lynda.com is an online learning site that hosts a growing library of 3,000+ courses and 130,000+ videos. Note: Lynda.com is not working with the eLibrary cards at this time.

Home & Auto Repair

Are you ready to start a new year with improvements/repairs on your home or vehicle? Use these eResources to help you become a master at DIY.

ChiltonLibrary provides manuals, OEM diagrams, and Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for automobiles and light trucks.

Home Improvement Reference Center will help you learn about remodeling, home maintenance, painting, electrical work, plumbing and other home improvement topics.

 

With your SJPL Library Card, you have access to these eResources and many others to help make 2021 a year of learning and success.
