Did you find a title you like but all the copies are checked out? Place a hold and we'll save it for you when it's returned.

You can place a hold either from your search results or from the page for an individual title. The system is set to default to set the pickup location as whatever your “home” library is (usually where you originally got your library card) but you can change it. The setting is a little tricky to find. Go to the dropdown menu under your username. Select “My Settings” (bottom of the list). Under Account Preferences you’ll see “Holds & Pickup Location.” You can change your preferred location there.
To see what you already have on hold, sign in to your account by clicking "Log In/My SJPL" in the upper right corner of any page on our site. (If it's your first time logging in, you'll go through a few steps to register your account. During this process you'll be prompted to create a username.)
Once you are logged in, you will see your username displayed in the upper right corner, where it previously said "Log In." Click on your username to see a menu for your account, including a link to "Holds." Here you can view the status of your holds, cancel holds, or put holds on "pause" until you're ready for them.
