A Brief History of National Beer Day

National Beer Day is celebrated on April 7 each year in the United States. The history of this holiday dates back to 1933 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Cullen-Harrison Act, which allowed the sale of beer with an alcohol content of up to 3.2% by weight. The act went into effect on April 7, 1933, marking the first time in thirteen years that beer could be legally sold in the United States.

On that day, people across the country celebrated the end of Prohibition by gathering in bars, taverns, and restaurants to enjoy a cold beer. The event was so popular that it became an annual tradition, and in 2009, a National Beer Day was established to commemorate this historic occasion.

Today, National Beer Day is celebrated with beer tastings, brewery tours, and other events promoting the craft beer industry. It has become a beloved holiday for beer enthusiasts across the country and a day to celebrate the cultural and economic contributions of beer to American society.
