The words Chalk Art Festival drawn in chalk on construction paper

On Saturday, September 15, 2018 check out the 11th annual Luna Park Chalk Art Festival at Backesto Park on the corner of 13th and Empire Streets in San Jose.  The festival starts at 10:00 AM and ends at 5:00 PM.

It’s a free festival.  You can enjoy the live music and dance performances, visit the booths, and of course watch the professional and amateur artists draw on the sidewalk paths in chalk.  You can even participate for a small fee.  All skill levels are welcome and they will even provide the chalk.  The proceeds go towards art programs for elementary to high school students.

I went to last year’s festival.  My favorites were the 3D chalk drawings.  You can see them in last year’s highlights.

I found the books to be very helpful because this year I hope to participate.  I’m not sure what I’m going to draw, but I did a practice chalk drawing using sidewalk chalk from the Dollar Store.
