From the mesmerizing, sequined-crafted costumes and acrobatic ballet waltzes to the nostalgic musical scores of Tchaikovsky's most famous suite, one of my favorite, long-awaited holiday traditions is watching the enchanting The Nutcracker ballet. It has become an annual performing arts event that I am thrilled to attend in San Jose and truly look forward to. This year, I was fortunate to attend with a great friend, and we had a wonderful time listening to George Daugherty conduct the Symphony Silicon Valley with the Ballet Stars of Moscow. Last year I was also able to attend showings at the San Jose Performing Arts Center, featuring the San Jose Dance Theatre. Both interpretations were brilliant, beautiful performances. They make me appreciative of joining in the festivities to celebrate the holidays.
