Happy Independence Day!

In honor of the Fourth of July we'd like to highlight some eResources that can help recent immigrants fulfill their citizenship goals!

Taking the Citizenship test?  We can help!

You can find a number of eResources on our website that will point you in the right direction if you're trying to prepare for citizenship.  First, check out our Citizenship and Immigration page!  There you'll find information about eResources that can help you, programs scheduled at our branches, links and resources, and more.

ProCitizen

ProCitizen from Pronunciator is available in a number of different languages and offers help for people who are preparing for the US citizenship test.  For more information on how to use ProCitizen, check out this course -- it was created by San Jose Public Library staff just for you!

Learning Express Library

Learning Express Library offers help for people who are trying to become citizens, along with test prep, GED prep, and more.  It's also available en Español.

Tutor.com

The Tutor.com Adult Education and Career Center offers help with finding a job, test prep, and more!  The Citizenship Test prep center offers lots of help with the citizenship test, but it will also point you to curated outside resources including CitizenPath, which has guides to immigration forms.  It's easy to find these resources -- just login with your library card and go to "Prepare for a Test" in the menu and choose "Prep for Citizenship Tests".

Pronunciator is the Language Learning resource that brings you ProCitizen!  At Pronunciator you can learn English in one of dozens of languages -- just pick your native tongue and then choose "I want to learn English (American)"  There are several levels you can choose from.

Mango Languages offers English instruction in 21 different languages.  Just choose English as the language you want to learn and look for your native language in the list.  Don't see yours? Let us know and we'll suggest that Mango try to offer it!

Make sure to check for Citizenship events at our Branch Libraries

There are always programs, speakers, and events for potential citizens.  As with all of our services, they are open to all and absolutely free!
