Happy Birthday, Mickey!

Mickey Mouse officially debuted in Steamboat Willie when it was released on November 18, 1928, and will be celebrating his 89th birthday on November 18. Want to learn a bit more about Mickey and the folks that created him? We've got some fun eResources to help you out.

It was all started by a mouse...

Mickey Mouse was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks and although his official debut was in Steamboat Willie, his first actual appearance was in the silent test film version of Plane Crazy (which was eventually released with sound added in 1929). Mickey's popularity skyrocketed and his fame launched Walt Disney's empire, bringing us hundreds of full length animated features, movies, and of course, Disneyland and later Walt Disney World. Learn more about Mickey with our eResources, check out a Mickey Mouse comic or book, or watch a Mickey Mouse movie.
