New Year, New Language

Most of us have, at one time or another, tried to learn a second language but have quickly given up. Many language learning courses are boring, or hard, or don't offer lessons that are relevant. Subscription services are expensive, and CD sets can be awkward. Mango is an online tool that you can take with you - all it takes to start learning now with is a library card and a computer or mobile device. Don't have a computer? Come in to any branch library and use one of ours!

Thanks to Mango Languages, learning a new language is easy and fun!

Mango offers lessons for learning more than 70 languages plus novelty languages such as Pirate and Shakespeare. It also offers English language learning tailored for native speakers of more than twenty languages.

Lessons are designed to be bite-sized chunks that gradually build into understanding of the language through context and repetition. Native speakers demonstrate pronunciation, and frequent notes and explanations add cultural context to each lesson. A recent addition to Mango is Mango Premier -- select languages offer full-length movies to help you learn more quickly! Look for "Explore" in the menu across the top of the screen. [NOTE: Most of the films offered are not appropriate for kids -- take a look at the rating and use discretion.]
