Note: All RBdigital eAudiobooks will merge into Overdrive/Libby on Monday, August 17

On Monday, August 17, 2020, Overdrive will merge our RBdigital eAudiobooks into its collection.  After August 17, eAudiobooks will no longer be available to borrow through RBdigital.

At a future date that is still being determined, eMagazines will be also move to Overdrive. For the time being, please continue to enjoy them as usual on the RBdigital platform after August 17.

Why the Change?

Overdrive and RBdigital (Recorded Books' digital service) have partnered to streamline content delivery. Overdrive will take over the digital portion of Recorded Books business. For audiobook fans out there, Recorded Books will continue as a publishing entity and continue to produce audiobook versions of your favorite books.

You can learn more by reading Overdrive's FAQs about the transfer and also learn how to get started with its app, Libby.

What if I Have eAudiobooks Checked Out Due After August 17?

RBdigital and Overdrive will honor all loans that have been checked out before the 17th! You can enjoy the eAudiobook on the RBdigital app or browser until it is due. You will not be able to renew the item or check out more titles on RBdigital afterwards.

Important Notes for Your RBdigital Account

RBdigital account information is unfortunately not able to directly transfer over to Overdrive. This includes any eAudiobooks you have on holds, your transaction history, and your wish list.

We are still learning more about when access to your RBdigital eAudiobook history and hold info will end. Just to be safe, we recommend that you export your transaction history (your loan history), and take note of your holds by the end of Sunday, August 16 so you can place them on copies in Overdrive.

At the moment we recommend that you check that all information you want saved is noted in your downloaded transaction history. If it is not available, please make a copy of the information you would like to keep by the end of August 16.

How Do I Export My Transaction History?

You can export your transaction history by logging into your RBdigital account in your favorite browser and clicking your your Profile. Look for a small link at the bottom of the page, just above the grey "Save" and red "Cancel" buttons, giving you the option to "Export My Transaction History" and click on it.

Your history will be exported as a .CSV file and can be found in the location your browser typically saves downloads. CSV files can be opened and displayed in most spreadsheet programs such as Excel, Numbers, and Google Sheets.

Haven't used Overdrive or Libby Yet?

Libby is a very easy to use app that will walk you through set up and finding titles when you first download and open the app from your mobile device's app store. You can find more information about using Libby, and the Overdrive website, on Overdrive's comprehensive help website.
