Reveal Hidden Gems at the King Library

Did you know that there are 33 "sculptural insertions" integrated into Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library?  You can guide community members to the hidden gems of the Library. Hear more from some or our expert docents in this video.

As a docent you will play a pivotal role in welcoming newcomers to the Library and the City of San José.  Your main goal is to connect with library users and get them excited and engaged with the art in the Library.

Position Features

  • Connect with community members and introduce them to the Library
  • Flexible schedule, sign up for the shifts that you want
    • Tours are only on Thursdays, but there can be special requests for tours on other days
  • Reduce your Library fines through service
  • Comprehensive training provided
  • Bilingual volunteers are highly desired.
