Revealing Hidden Gems

Did you know that there are 33 "sculptural insertions" integrated into Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library?  You can guide community members to the hidden gems of the Library.  Bilingual volunteers are highly desired.

As a docent you will play a pivotal role in welcoming newcomers to the Library and the City of San José.  Your main goal is to connect with library users and get them excited and engaged with the art in the Library.

  • Connect with community members and introduce them to the Library
  • Flexible schedule, sign up for the shifts that you want
    • Tours are only on Thursdays, but there can be special requests for tours on other days
  • Reduce your Library fines through service
  • Comprehensive training provided
