The IRS progam Volunteer Income Tax Assistance is available at several branches of the San Jose Public Library through Saturday, April 13, 2013. This program is available to families and individuals whose income is less than $51,000 a year. Assistance is offered at various branches in English, Spanish and Vietnamese (you may wish to call a branch in advance to see when and if the service is being offered in your preferred language). No advance registration for the VITA program is requested and you will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis. For a complete list of upcoming opportunities see our events calendar.

VITA offers free tax help to hard working individuals and families whose income is less than $51,000. Assistance is available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese at most locations. All locations provide e-File. Volunteers are trained to prepare basic 2012 Forms 1040EZ, 1040A, 1040 with Schedule A, B, limited Schedule CEZ, C and California Income Tax Returns ONLY! You also CANNOT be filing as "Married, Filing Separate returns".

Residents 60 years and older with low and moderate income can register for free assistance on their personal tax preparation. e-File is available.

The The East San José Carnegie Branch Library is a location site for the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program.
This free tax preparation assistance will be offered every Saturday from Feb. 16th through Apr. 13th in the Tech Center of the library.

AARP and VITA volunteers will be offering free tax help at San Jose Public Libraries to people with low to moderate income, those who cannot prepare their own tax returns, and people ages 60 and above.
