Mad ScienceEveryone is invited to join us at Edenvale Branch Library on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012 at 6:00 PM for a FREE science treat with Mad Science's Phantastic Phun!

 

Be blown away by awesome chemical reactions!

 

You've seen a rainbow in the sky, now watch as we make one in a tube. 

 

Learn all about gravity, balance and centripetal force.

 

Be dazzled by some amazing optical illusions.  You won't believe your eyes!

 

This program is best for kids ages 3 to 12, and of course their parents.

 

This program is part of the 2012 Summer Reading Celebration and is made possible through the generous contributions of the Friends of the Edenvale Branch Library!



Dry Ice Science


Kids holding glasses containing dry ice.Join us at the Almaden Branch Library on Wednesday, May 18, at 3:30 p.m. as the library's Program Room is turned into a laboratory for young scientists. Children will investigate chemical reactions with dry ice as they solve a dilemma presented within a folktale.

 

"Dry Ice Science" is presented by the Children's Discovery Museum and stimulates kids to explore the wonders of science. This challenging science program integrates language arts and problem-solving with interactive experiments. The program:

• Develops experimental design and problem-solving skills

• Promotes essentials of observation

• Sparks students' curiosity

 

This event will be held in the library's Program Room and is intended for kids ages 5 to 12.

Mad Science: Up, Up and Away


picture of a hot air balloon Staff from Mad Science® will be at the Evergreen Branch Library on Saturday, January 29th to deliver a unique, hands-on science experience for children. This program is highly interactive and entertaining and is appropriate for children aged 5 to 12 years.

 

The program Up, Up & Away takes the principles of air pressure to a new high!  Some of the things the children can observe include:

 

  • The creation of a hot air balloon
  • Giant smoke rings generated by a vortex generator
  • A hovercraft in action
