Starting on January 2013, Storytimes at the East San José Carnegie Branch Library will resume again!

Our first Family Storytime with Stay and Play activity is scheduled on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 6pm. And our first Inclusive Storytime for 2013 will occur on Wednesday, January 16th at 6pm.

Storytime Schedule at the East San José Carnegie Library:

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) Family Storytime with Stay and Play activity - Wednesdays (weekly) - 6pm- 7pm
• Inclusive Storytime with Stay and Play activity - 3rd Wednesday of the month - 6pm-7pm

Nuestro primer Hora de Cuentos para Familias con la actividad Quédate a Jugar está programada para el miércoles, 2 de enero 2013 a las 6pm. Además, nuestra proxima Hora de Cuentos Inclusivo con la actividad Quédate a Jugar será el miércoles, 16 de enero a las 6pm.

El horario de cuentos en la Biblioteca East San José Carnegie:

• Hora de Cuentos Bilingüe Para Familias con Quédate a Jugar va ser los miércoles de 6pm hasta 7pm (cada semana)
• Hora de Cuentos Inclusivo con Quédate a Jugar tomará lugar el tercer miércoles de cada mes de 6pm hasta 7pm.

In a recent article by Mary Gottschalk published in the MercuryNew.com web site, story times at the Willow Glen, Rose Garden, Cambrian and Almaden branches were highlighted.  Librarians Lucia Farnham-Hudson, Mary Cage, Nancy Donnell and Ed Koetitz, were interviewed for the article.  In addition to information on the regular story times, a brief history and overview of the Inclusive Story Times was presented.  For a comprehensive listing of Inclusive Story Times offered by the San Jose Public Library, please consult the online calendar of events. 

At an inclusive story time you will find stories, songs, fingerplays, rhymes and activities that are tailored for our youngest audience with special needs.  To make the story time more accessable, there are also carpet squares, fidget toys, a story time schedule, big books and other visual props designed to engage the child. 

For more information and advice for parents with children who have special needs, Parents Helping Parents is a remarkable resource.  In addition, the Inclusion Collaborative, (part of the Santa Clara County Office of Education), is a valuable resource for parents and teachers alike.

Inclusive Story Time will be held on Saturday, April 30 at 10:15 a.m. in the Almaden Branch Library's program room. All children ages 3-8 and their families are invited to participate in this lively and interactive monthly storytime. Children with varying learning styles and abilities learn together in a safe and supportive environment where respect and appreciation for differences is encouraged.

Family Story Time is held on Saturdays at 11:15 a.m. There will be fun stories, songs, and finger plays geared for the whole family. Following the story time, there will be a thirty minute "Stay and Play."

■ Inclusive Story Time will be held on Saturday, March 26 at 10:15 a.m. in the Almaden Branch Library's program room. All children ages 3-8 and their families are invited to participate in this lively and interactive monthly storytime. Children with varying learning styles and abilities learn together in a safe and supportive environment where respect and appreciation for differences is encouraged.
