Introduction to English for Adults ~ Introduccion al inglés para adultos


Tuesdays: 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm (January thru March, 2014)

  • Learn to read and write the letters of the alphabet.
  • Learn to count and write numbers.
  • Learn to use common greetings and polite expressions.
  • Aprendan a leer y escribir el abecedario.
  • Aprendan a contar y escribir numeros.
  • Aprendan a usar frases comunes y expresiones cortésas.

This class is free.  It is suggested that students bring a binder, notebook and pencil or pen when attending this class.  It is recommended that students meet with the ESL teacher prior to attending the class.  Handouts will be provided.  If you would like to talk to Cris, the ESL teacher, please call her at 1-408-294-1237.

  • These classes are open to high beginning to advanced levels.

American Idioms: An ESL Class for Adults


Image with English IdiomsAdvanced ESL learners are invited to attend American Idioms:  An ESL Class for Adults at the East San Jose Carnegie Branch Library on Fridays from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon, starting on October 4, 2013.  

 

In this class, ESL students will participate in activities to improve fluency and speaking skills.  This class will help non-native speakers gain :

 

  • understanding of idioms, reductions and slang  in oral speech
  • knowledge of idioms commonly used by native speakers
  • confidence in spoken English

Handouts will be provided.  It is suggested that students bring a binder, notebook and pencil or pen when attending this class.
