The City’s important early care and education work continues into the future. The Investment in the Future: San José Early Care and Education Strategic Work Plan 2009-2014 provides a strategic framework to guide the City of San José’s strategic vision to ensure that every child enters school ready to learn. The Strategic Work Plan embraces four early care and education goals:
- Expanding the availability of quality early care and education.
- Recruiting and retaining qualified early educators through professional development.
- Increasing public awareness on the importance of and advocacy for quality early childhood experiences.
- Integrating the Early Care and Education Strategic Work Plan within national, state, regional and local initiatives to sustain a quality early care and education system.
Each goal area includes objectives and outcomes to support the City’s vision that all children will enter school ready to learn with the physical, social, emotional and academic foundation to ensure success in the classroom and to develop to their full potential as lifelong learners.
