"Pioneer Papers" are essays on Santa Clara County history that writers have entered in the California Pioneers of Santa Clara County essay contest.

 

One copy of each essay is in the California Room and may be read whenever the California Room is open.

Essay Contest

California Pioneers of Santa Clara County sponsors an annual historical essay contest. The essay’s subject may be any person, place, or event concerning Santa Clara County from its beginning to the recent past. Essays must be 3,000-10,000 words in length. Anyone may enter the contest, which awards a final prize of $500. For more information:
