Whoever constructed the first snowman is lost to history. However, The History of the Snowman documents snowmen from medieval times. The earliest documentation found is a marginal illustration from a work titled Book of Hours (c. 1380).

Thanks to the 4th graders from St. Christopher's School in San José, we all have an opportunity to view their interpretation of snowmen today! Included is a heartfelt seasonal greeting and warm wishes for a happy new year! They will be on display in Willow Glen Library Children's area until spring and the arrival of warmer weather.
