Girls Who Code is coming to the Evergreen Branch Library!
Launched in the spring of 2012, Girls Who Code is a national nonprofit organization working to close the gender gap in the technology and engineering sectors. With support from public and private partners, Girls Who Code works to educate, inspire, and equip high school girls with the skills and resources to pursue opportunities in computing fields.
Girls, in grades 9-12, will learn computer science fundamentals by programming apps and video games, going on field trips to real world companies and hearing inspirational women in the field speak about their work.
This program is free and will be held in Evergreen Library’s Community Room every Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Classes begin Tuesday, November 19, 2013. No registration required. We are happy to announce that we will have two instructors from Google, Pierre Delisle and Nancy Chen, teaching girls how to code.
