The California Room has a collection of historical aerial photographs of the Greater San José Area.

 

About the Aerial Photographs:

  • These photographs were taken on flights made during 5 separate time periods: 1931, 1948, 1960, 1968, and 1980-1981.
  • The photographs are in black and white and measure 36x36 inches.
  • The photographs are from the U.S. Geological Survey.

 

Area Covered

The photographs cover San José and other parts of central Santa Clara County within these approximate boundaries:

Alviso south to Los Gatos, then east to the Calero Reservoir, then north to Milpitas and the Alameda County Line, then west along the bay to Alviso.
